The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ende ( Latin Archidioecesis Endehenus ) is in Indonesia located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in the end .

history

The Archdiocese of Ende was established on September 16, 1913 by Pope Pius X. from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Batavia as the Apostolic Prefecture of the Lesser Sunda Islands . The Lesser Sunda Islands Apostolic Prefecture was founded on March 12, 1922 by Pope Pius XI. raised to the apostolic vicariate . The Apostolic Vicariate Lesser Sunda Islands gave up parts of its territory on May 25, 1936 to establish the Apostolic Vicariate of Dutch Timor . Another assignment of territory took place on July 10, 1950 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Denpasar . On March 8, 1951, the Vicariate Apostolic Lesser Sunda Islands gave parts of its territory to establish the Vicariate Apostolic Larantuka and Ruteng . At the same time the Apostolic Vicariate Lesser Sunda Islands was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Endeh . The Apostolic Vicariate Endeh gave on October 20, 1959 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Weetebula .

On January 3, 1961, the Apostolic Vicariate Endeh was by Pope John XXIII. elevated to an archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Quod Christ . The Archdiocese of Endeh was renamed the Archdiocese of Ende on May 14, 1974 . On December 14, 2005, the Archdiocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Maumere .
