The Diocese of Pangkal-Pinang ( Latin Dioecesis Pangkalpinangensis ) is in Indonesia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Pangkalpinang .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Bangka and Biliton on December 27, 1923 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Prefecture Sumatra . She was promoted to the Apostolic Vicariate on February 8, 1951 and took the name, Apostolic Vicariate Pangkal-Pinang.

On January 3, 1961, she was raised to the rank of diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Medan as a suffragan diocese. On July 1, 2003 it became part of the new ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Palembang .
