The Archdiocese of Merauke ( Latin Archidioecesis Meraukensis ) is in Indonesia located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Merauke .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Vicariate Merauke on June 24, 1950 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Amboina .

On November 15, 1966, it was elevated to the rank of metropolitan and archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Pro suscepto . It lost part of its territory on May 29, 1969 to the diocese of Agats .
