The Archdiocese of Semarang ( Latin Archidioecesis Semarangensis ) is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Semarang in Indonesia .
history
Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Vicariate Semarang on January 9, 1947 from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate Batavia .
On January 3, 1961, it was raised to the rank of metropolitan archbishopric.
