The Roman Catholic Diocese of Surabaya ( lat. : Dioecesis Surabayana ) is in Indonesia located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Surabaya .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Prefecture Surabaia with the Breve Surabaia on February 15, 1928 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Batavia . She was raised to the Apostolic Vicariate on October 16, 1941 .
It was raised on January 3, 1961 to the diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Semarang as a suffragan . On August 22, 1973, it took on its current name.
