Nicolaus Adi Seputra MSC (born December 6, 1959 in Purwokerto , Jawa Tengah , Indonesia ) is an Indonesian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Merauke .

Life

Nicolaus Adi Seputra studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminaries of Mertoyudan and Pineleng . He received on 1 February 1989, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Adi Seputra worked as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Merauke from 1989 to 1997 . In 1997 he was sent to Manila for further studies , which he completed in 2001 with a master's degree in pastoral theology . Nicolaus Adi Seputra became pastor of the Cathedral of Merauke in 2001 and also Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Merauke in 2003 .

On 30 April 2004 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Archbishop of Merauke. The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Jacobus Duivenvoorde MSC on 25 July 2004; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Jakarta , Julius Riyadi Cardinal Darmaatmadja SJ , and the Bishop of Timika , John Philip Saklil .

Pope Francis accepted his resignation from the office of Archbishop of Merauke on March 28, 2020.
