Janko Janeff , also Janev or Janew , ( Bulgarian Янко Янев ; * December 13, 1900 in Peschtera , Pazardzhik district ; † February 13, 1945 in Dresden ) was an authoritarian Bulgarian poet and philosopher.

life and work

Janko Janeff's father, Christo Janeff, was an Orthodox denomination. After attending school in Peschtera, Janko switched to high school in Plovdiv .

At the age of 19 he had already presented three collections of poetry: "Sünde und Kummer", "Nach Norden" (1918) and "Sehnsäden" (1919). In 1919, the admirer of the nationalist publicist Arthur Moeller van den Bruck moved to Germany. In 1920 he learned the German language in Halle. He actually wanted to study dramaturgy , but instead enrolled in philosophy. Until 1923 he was a student in Leipzig with Ernst Bergmann and Johannes Volkelt , in Freiburg im Breisgau with Edmund Husserl and Joseph Geyser and from October 26, 1922 in Heidelberg. His doctoral thesis with Heinrich Rickert , which remained unprinted, is entitled "Life and the Survivor. A Historical Examination of Henry Bergson's Metaphysics ". On July 5, 1923 he received the exmatriculation, the doctorate to Dr. phil. on January 22, 1924.

He then went back to Bulgaria and worked in Sofia in the university library. During this time the literary works were created: "Antichrist" (1926), from 1927 to 1928 two books about Hegel and from 1928 to 1932 further works followed. The extensive work “The Heroic Man” was published in Bulgaria. In 1936 “The Myth in the Balkans” was published. The text was "used as a training document in numerous NS sub-organizations".

At the invitation of the German government, Janeff went to Berlin to give lectures at the university there. In 1942 he took part in the “New Europe” conference in Dresden and gave a lecture on the subject of “The Soul of Europe”.

Janeff died on February 13, 1945 in the bombing raid on Dresden .
