Wilhelm von Blomberg
Wilhelm Freiherr von Blomberg (born May 17, 1786 at Iggenhausen / Lippe Castle , † April 17, 1846 in Herford ) was a Prussian officer of the 19th century who made a name for himself as a writer.
Blomberg attended high school in Lemgo until 1805 and then studied law in Halle and Heidelberg. In Heidelberg he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg in 1807 . In 1809 he worked as a lawyer in Warburg and in 1813 entered the military in Prussia. He served in Hamm, from 1821 in Düsseldorf and from 1830 as captain in Prüm . In 1837 he was retired as a major due to health reasons and from then on lived in Herford. From 1809 he published numerous essays and satirical contributions as an author, which gave expression to the newly awakened national feeling. He was the editor of the songbook for the members of the Treubundes mit Gott für König und Vaterland.
Wilhelm von Blomberg was the older brother of the liberation fighter and poet Alexander von Blomberg . Georg Moritz von Blomberg was his half-brother.
