Wilhelm von Stockheim
Wilhelm von Stockheim († January 15, 1532 in Worms ) was a canon in the Prince Bishopric of Worms , from whom an elaborate coat of arms stone has been preserved.
origin
He came from the Hessian noble family of the Lords of Stockheim , whose ancestral castle was in Stockheim near Usingen .
Life
Wilhelm von Stockheim was born the son of Eberhard von Stockheim († 1489) and his wife Dorothea Wais von Fauerbach .
He embarked on a spiritual career and became a canon or scholaster at the cathedral in Worms .
When the cathedral cloister was renewed at the beginning of the 16th century , Wilhelm von Stockheim donated a magnificent vault stone with his parents' alliance coat of arms and the dedication inscription "In the year of the Incarnation of the Lord, 1516, Wilhelm von Stockheim, scholaster and canon of this church (= Worms Cathedral) " . The viewer shows the Stockheimer on the left and the lion coat of arms of the Wais von Fauerbach on the right. Similar keystones were donated by Bishop Ruprecht II of Regensburg , as well as the canons Philipp von Flersheim and Erpho von Gemmingen . The cathedral cloister was dismantled around 1818 and the above-mentioned coat of arms stones ended up in a detour in the Andreasstift Worms , which has been profaned and serves as a city museum. There they are let into the inner north wall of the nave.
Cathedral Scholaster von Stockheim died in 1532 and was buried in the east wing of the cathedral cloister, where he received a bronze epitaph that was lost; the inscription has been handed down.
