Willi Hönekopp

Wilhelm Hönekopp (born March 12, 1907 in Bonn ; † November 15, 1993 in Bubenreuth ) was a German master painter and local politician.

Life

Hönekopp passed the journeyman's and master's exams in painting. Then he attended the arts and crafts school. In 1936 he took over a painter's business with a studio in Erlangen that specialized in representative wall painting. During the Second World War he was captured by the Americans. After his return he rebuilt his business and also worked as a specialist teacher at the Erlangen vocational school.

As a member of the CSU , he was a member of the Erlangen City Council from 1946 to 1948 . From 1948 to 1952 he was District Administrator of the district Erlangen while serving as CSU district chairman.

It was on his initiative that the Schönbach violin makers, who were driven out of the Sudetenland , settled in Bubenreuth . Around 500 apartments were built in the so-called violin makers' settlement.
