Bruno Franz Wilhelm Ernst Willi Huber (born October 21, 1879 in Kaiserslautern , † August 19, 1957 in Essen ) was a German coal and steel industrialist and manager of the coal and steel industry.

Willi Huber came from the founding families Huber and Raab of Raab Karcher & Co. His father was the Secret Commerce Councilor Carl Huber (1848–1914), his paternal grandfather was the company founder Ernst Huber (1815–1895). His mother was Helene Raab (1859–1939), his maternal grandfather Wilhelm Raab. In 1910 he married Irma Waldthausen .

Life

After graduating from the Protestant grammar school in Strasbourg in 1897 , Willi Huber first completed practical training with Raab Karcher. He then studied law at the Universities of Strasbourg and Heidelberg. In 1898 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Strasbourg . After graduating from the University of Heidelberg in 1901 with a Dr. jur. After receiving his doctorate, he became an authorized officer of Raab Karcher & Co. GmbH, a coal wholesaler and shipping company, in Strasbourg. In 1910 he became the company's managing director. When Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG (GBAG) took over the majority in Raab Karcher in 1914 , he became a member of the GBAG supervisory board. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as Rittmeister of the Reserve in Hussar Regiment No. 9 at the headquarters of the 30th Infantry Division. As an award he received the Iron Cross II. And I. Class. In 1918 he was appointed Reich Coal Commissioner. In 1919, Huber took over the management of Raab Karcher again, now based in Karlsruhe. On March 9, 1926, he was delegated by the supervisory board to the board of GBAG. On October 27, 1926, he was appointed general director and chairman of the board, leaving the supervisory board. In 1930 he returned to the board of directors, of which he was a member until his death in 1957. At the same time, Huber became chairman of the advisory board of Raab Karcher GmbH in 1926, which appointed him honorary chairman in 1948. Under his aegis, the company developed into one of the most important German trading and shipping companies. After the Second World War, Huber was interned for a year. He is one of the representatives of the syndicate concept in the distribution of coal and steel products.
