Willi Meier
Wilhelm "Willi" Meier (born April 13, 1907 in Herten - Scherlebeck , † March 19, 1979 in Munich ) was a German athlete who was active as a long jumper in the late 1920s .
He was able to place twice in the German championships, in 1927 he was third, in 1928 second.
In 1928 he achieved his personal best with 7.54 m and took part in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam with Rudolf Dobermann , Erich Köchermann and Helmut Schlöske . There he came in fourth as the best German long jumper; he missed the bronze medal by an inch. Third place, the American Al Bates , managed a single 7-meter jump, while Willi Meier exceeded the 7-meter mark five times.
Willi Meier started for SC Preußen Stettin , later for SC Charlottenburg . He was 1.89 m tall and weighed 86 kg.
