Willi Wenzel (born October 12, 1930 - January 25, 1999 ) was a German soccer player .

Career

In the 1948/49 season Willi Wenzel completed his first two games for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the Oberliga Südwest . For professional reasons he was in Pirmasens in 1949/50 and scored two goals in three league games at the FKP there . From the 1951/52 season he was used again at FCK. From then on he became a regular player and goalscorer with the "Red Devils". In 1953 Wenzel became German champion with the FCK. He scored a goal in the final against VfB Stuttgart (4-1). In 1954 and 1955 , Willi Wenzel pushed FCK into the final, but lost to Hannover 96 1: 5 and Rot-Weiss Essen 3: 4. In the game against Essen, Wenzel scored two goals. In the three rounds from 1953/54 to 1955/56 he scored 23 goals in each of the Südwest-Oberliga. He finished second in the list of goalscorers in the southwest in 1955 and 1956. In the five rounds 1953/54 to 1957/58 he scored 107 goals in the league for Lautrer. After a long injury break due to a torn cruciate ligament, he played his last two league games in the 1961/62 season. In total, he was used in 239 competitive games for Kaiserslautern, in which he scored 165 goals.

At the end of his career, Wenzel finished fourth in the club's top league goalscorer rankings, behind the luminaries Ottmar Walter , Fritz Walter and Werner Baßler . In later years he made a living as the owner of a specialty store for stone slabs and floor coverings.

After retiring, he still played for the traditional FCK team.
