Willi Wolf (trade unionist)

Willi Wolf (born July 7, 1904 in Koethen , † February 17, 1971 in Potsdam ) was a German politician ( SPD / SED ) and trade unionist .

Life

Wolf, son of a metalworker, attended elementary school and trained as a commercial assistant. He worked in a machine factory. Since 1922 he was unionized and a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth . In 1924 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and was temporarily secretary of the Halle district board . Between 1924 and 1929 he worked full-time for the German Agricultural Workers' Association (DLV) Köthen / Bernburg , and from 1929 to 1931 he was secretary of the DLV at the district administration in Halle . From 1930 to 1932 he was a guest student at the University of Halle .

After the National Socialists "seized power " in 1933, Wolf took part in the resistance . For illegal political activities, he was arrested on 13 March 1936 and to four years in prison convicted, after his sentence, he was in 1940 to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp spent and remained imprisoned there deepened his tuberculosis disease infection. When the SS evacuated the Sachsenhausen concentration camp on April 21, 1945 , Wolf was sent on the death march like the other prisoners .

In 1945 he became a member of the SPD Provincial Board of Brandenburg and campaigned for the union of the SPD and KPD to form the SED . Since 1946 he was a member of the SED Provincial Board of Brandenburg. In 1945/46 he was head of the agricultural workers' department in the German administration for agriculture and forestry. Wolf was a member of the preparatory trade union committee of the province of Brandenburg. From 1946 he was a member of the FDGB State Board Brandenburg, from February 1946 to October 1949 he was also its second chairman. From November 1947 to November 1948 he was first chairman of the central board of the IG Agriculture and Forestry in the FDGB .

In the early summer of 1948 he became chairman of the Brandenburg State People's Control Committee, later he was director of social security in Brandenburg and labor judge, and from 1958 director of the Potsdam District Labor Court. Initially a member of the district audit commission of the SED district leadership in Potsdam , he was its deputy chairman from 1962. From 1964 to 1968 he was the deputy manager of the German Central Archives in Potsdam.
