William Adrián Castro Rosso (born May 22, 1962 in Mercedes , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Player career

society

Castro was a member of the Bella Vistas squad in the Primera División from 1982 to 1985 . He then moved to the Argentine club Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata and completed there between July 6, 1985 and September 22, 1985 ten games for the Argentines (no goal). He returned to the Montevideans in 1987 for another station. From 1988 to 1990 he was then under contract with Nacional Montevideo . With the Bolsos he won the Copa Libertadores in 1988 , where he was on the starting line-up in both final games against the Newell's Old Boys . In the subsequent World Cup final on December 11, 1988 in Tokyo against PSV Eindhoven, he was also involved from the start. After Castro was already on the pitch in the final games for the Recopa Sudamericana in 1989 and thus actively contributed to the title win in the duel with the Argentine representative Racing Club , he was also in the finals for the Copa Interamericana used from the start in 1989 . Nacional prevailed against CD Olimpia there in March 1989 . In 1990 he moved to the Mexican club CD Cruz Azul . There he played 32 games and scored five goals. In 1992 he returned to Uruguay and was under contract with Peñarol from 1992 to 1993 . In the second year he was with his team Uruguayan champions. Progreso , Liverpool Montevideo , Deportivo Maldonado or Punta del Este and Miramar Misiones were his other stations in club football.

National team

The striker was a member of the Uruguayan national soccer team . Overall, he completed nine international matches from his debut on May 3, 1989 to his last appearance on September 4, 1991, in which he scored twice in the opposing goal. Castro also took part in the 1990 World Cup, where he was not used in the group matches or in the knockout round defeat against Italy .
