William Edmondson
William R. Edmondson (born July 4, 1923 , † April 18, 1998 in Portland , Oregon ) was a sound engineer .
Life
Edmondson began his career in the early 1930s and made his feature film debut in 1931 with the Oscar-nominated adventure film Trader Horn . In the early years of his career he mostly worked as a sound assistant on the boom ; until the end of the 1950s he was mostly not mentioned in the credits of the films. While his main focus was on film, he also worked occasionally for television, including the television series Twilight Zone . For his work on the children's program NBC Special Treat , he was nominated for the Daytime Emmy in 1976 .
In 1970 he was nominated for Two Bandits together with David Dockendorf for the Oscar in the category Best Sound , but this year the award went to Gene Kelly's musical Hello, Dolly! . In the following year Edmondson won the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Sound for Two Bandits together with Dockendorf and Don Hall .
Edmondson retired from the film business in 1979. He died in Portland, Oregon in 1998 at the age of 91.
