William Newman (actor)

William McLeod Newman (born June 15, 1934 in Chicago , Illinois - † May 27, 2015 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American actor .

Life

Newman was born in Chicago in 1934. At the age of three, he moved to Seattle with his family in 1937 . Newman graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952 and received his bachelor's degree from a university in Seattle in 1956 . From 1958 to 1960 he studied with the help of a scholarship at Columbia University . The actor also served in the American Army in the 1950s and 1960s .

William Newman initially worked as a theater actor on various stages. After making his film debut in Squirm: Invasion of the Beasts in 1976, Newman appeared in more than 60 film and television roles. He became known among other things for his supporting role in the film Mrs. Doubtfire - The prickly nanny . Until his last role in 2006, he also appeared as a guest star on television series such as Spaceship Enterprise , My Name Is Earl , Diagnosis: Murder and King of Queens .

In 1960 William Newman married Julia Tayon . They divorced a few years later, and Newman later married Margaret Ramsey. He had three children, one of whom died in a fall in 1976 . Newman died of vascular dementia in Philadelphia in 2015 at the age of 80 .
