William R. Constant

William R. "Bill" constant (* 1952 ) is an American biologist , conservationist and nonfiction - author .

Life

From 1970 Konstant studied biology at Cornell University , where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1974 . After studying psychology from 1982 to 1984 at the State University of New York at Stony Brook , he graduated with a Master of Arts. From 1986 to 1991 he was director of the Wildlife Preservation Trust International in New York City. From 1997 to 2003 he was director of special projects at Conservation International . From 2003 to 2008 he was the conservation director at the Houston Zoo . From 2009 to 2011 he was the general manager of Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown , Pennsylvania . From 2012 to 2014 he was a program assistant at the International Rhino Foundation , where he was involved in program management , fundraising and communication activities. He has been a freelance conservation consultant since 2012, advising organizations such as the Global Wildlife Conservation, the Margot Marsh Biodiversity Foundation, which promotes primate conservation projects, and the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, which supports mammal conservation projects around the world.

Konstant was involved in several field guides and books on nature conservation projects, including works on primates in South America and lemurs in Madagascar, on species protection in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia and on bats in Papua New Guinea . From 2000 to 2006 he was a contributor to the IUCN publication Primates in Peril . In 2013 he was a co-author of the family chapter on spider-tailed monkeys (Atelidae) in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World .
