The Williamson Peninsula is an icy peninsula in the middle of the south coast of Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It extends between Schwartz Cove and O'Dowd Cove into the Abbot Ice Shelf, which extends into Peacock Sound .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named her in 2003 after Lieutenant Commander H. E. Williamson, medical officer on the aircraft mother ship USS Pine Island in the Eastern Group of Operation Highjump (1946–1947) of the United States Navy .
