Willibald Liehr (born December 7, 1941 in Vienna ; † May 31, 2011 ) was a lawyer and member of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria .

Life

Liehr attended school in Vienna and passed the matriculation examination at the Piaristengymnasium in 1959 . He studied Jus at the University of Vienna , where he in 1963 to Dr. jur. PhD. After the court practice, he joined the Lower Austrian Provincial Service in November 1964, where he held the position of criminal, construction, police, traffic and trade clerk at the district authorities in Hollabrunn and Gänserndorf in 1965 and 1966. From 1967 to 1969 he was a research assistant at the Constitutional Court . From December 1969 he worked in the constitutional service of the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government, from 1979 to January 1996 as its head. Since June 1991 Liehr has been honorary professor at the Technical University of Vienna , where he mainly taught building and regional planning law. He also held courses at the Universities of Innsbruck and Linz .

On February 12, 1996, Liehr was appointed a member of the Constitutional Court on the basis of a nomination by the Federal Council . In his role, he was repeatedly elected permanent consultant. On March 31, 2011, Liehr resigned prematurely as a constitutional judge for health reasons. He died on May 31, 2011.
