Willus Brenner

Willus Brenner (born March 31, 1902 in Abstatt ; † February 10, 1984 ) was a German painter .

Life

He received his artistic support from 1917 to 1923 from the painting and drawing teacher Gottlieb Grau at the teachers' seminar in Heilbronn . In 1920 he also attended drawing courses with Professor Walther Eberbach . From 1927 to 1931 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Professors Spiegel, Altherr, Kolig , Graf and Eckener. He had his first exhibition in Heilbronn in 1931. In 1933 his work was classified as Degenerate Art .

After the end of the Second World War he was appointed Art Director by the American military government in Heilbronn. From 1950 his works were shown at numerous exhibitions in southern Germany. I.a. the city of Heilbronn and the regional council of Stuttgart have bought Brenner's works. From 1970, Brenner lived in Oberheinriet .

He is the father of the sculptor Daniel Brenner , who among other things designed a sculpture for the Odenwald School .
