Willy Millowitsch Medal

The Willy Millowitsch Medal has been awarded since 2003 to personalities who have made a special contribution to the cultivated Cologne speech , which is free of scourges .

The medal named after the popular Cologne folk actor Willy Millowitsch (1909–1999) was initiated by the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee ; it is an honorable recognition and not associated with prize money. The board of trustees of the Willy Millowitsch Medal currently consists of Markus Ritterbach (President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee from 1823), Joachim Wüst (Vice President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee), Christoph Kuckelkorn (Vice President of the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee), Hans-Georg Bögner (Head of the Akademie für uns kölsche Sproch as an institution of the superordinate SK Stiftung Kultur der Sparkasse KölnBonn ), Peter Millowitsch (theater director), Heribert Malchers (former director of the puppet shows of the city of Cologne ) and Gerhard Herkenrath (pastor of St. Alban in Cologne).
