Willy Ernst Martin Ahrens (born April 19, 1868 in Stettin , † after 1935 ) was a German entrepreneur and local politician.

Life

He was the son of the Stettin merchant August Ahrens and Anna born. Sparrow. August Ahrens was the owner of Schütt & Ahrens, a factory for agricultural machinery and equipment, which he founded together with his brother-in-law Fr. Schütt in 1865.

Ahrens attended the Friedrich Wilhelm High School and then went on to do a commercial apprenticeship before doing his military service in Hussar Regiment No. 15 in Wandsbek . After some time abroad, he joined his father's company, which he took over as the sole owner after his father's death.

Ahrens also worked as a royal Danish consul . He was also a member of the city ​​council in Stettin from 1903 and became its head in 1920. In 1923 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Rostock , and in 1925 he became an honorary senator of the University of Greifswald .

Willy Ahrens was married to Katharina, b. Lemcke. The couple had four children: August and Rudolf, who both became co-owners of the Schütt & Ahrens company, as well as Käthe, who married in Halle, and Helmuth, who also worked in the company.

For many years he was treasurer of the Society for Pomeranian History and Archeology . He was also a member of the German Alpine Club and chairman of the Stettin section for 12 years. A path to the Hohe Weisse near the Stettiner Hütte in South Tyrol was named after him.
