Willy Verginer (born February 23, 1957 in Brixen , South Tyrol ) is an Italian wood sculptor .

Life

Verginer studied at the Ortisei art school (1971–1974). He completed internships in several wood carving workshops and continued his self-taught education. He has exhibited his works and groups of works since the 1980s, both in his home country and internationally, for example in 2009 in Vicenza, Italy, in the AndreA Arte ContemporaneA gallery or in the Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto (MART) in Rovereto in the province of Trento .

The northern Italian Willy Verginer prefers wood, a natural material, for his sculptures and alienating installations. Detached from his tradition of wood carving in Val Gardena, he has found his own style.

Verginer lives and works in the South Tyrolean town of Ortisei in Val Gardena (Italian: Ortisei).
