Willy Zeyn senior

Willy Zeyn (born June 30, 1876 in Wandsbek ; † August 9, 1946 in Munich ) was a German film director and screenwriter .

Life

He attended secondary school and a commercial school, then he trained as an actor in Hamburg until 1895. Then he played on various stages at home and abroad and was a member of several vaudeville troupes.

In 1910 he returned to Germany, where he was discovered and promoted as a film director by Paul von Woringen . He worked in Berlin for Deutsche Mutoscop- und Biograph GmbH and directed numerous short silent films in the style of the early days of cinema.

Zeyn played a key role in the expansion of Berlin film studios into large-scale areas. His time as a film director ended in the mid-1920s and he retired to Munich. There he was buried in the forest cemetery after his death . His son is the film editor and film producer Willy Zeyn junior .
