Salgótarján small area

The Salgótarján Small Area (Hungarian Salgótarjáni kistérség ) is a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU-1 ) within Nógrád County in northern Hungary . In the course of the administrative reform in early 2013, 23 localities were transferred to the Salgótarján district of the same name ( Salgótarjáni járás in Hungarian ), and the Szalmatercs community was assigned to the Szécsény district .

At the end of 2012, 62,678 inhabitants lived in the small area on an area of ​​474.62 km². The most populous small area of ​​the county had the highest population density with 132 inhabitants / km².

The administrative seat was in the only city Salgótarján (37,199 inhabitants), which as the county capital was equal to a county (Hungarian megyei jogú város ).
