The Wilo SE is a Group headquartered in Dortmund , the pump produces and pump systems for heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, water supply and waste water disposal and purification. The company name is derived from the initials of the founder Wil helmet O pländer. The company, which emerged in 2002 from the merger of Wilo-Salmson AG with Wilo GmbH , is the managing holding of today's Wilo Group. Wilo has had the legal form SE since July 24, 2008 .

history

Founded in 1872 as the copper and brass goods factory Louis Opländer Maschinenbau, the company supplied companies in the beverage industry with distillation systems . At the same time, the company developed as a specialist in central heating construction and a pioneer in pump technology for central heating.

At the end of the 1920s, Wilhelm Opländer pioneered the field of circulation pumps .

The foundations for internationalization were laid in 1965 with the establishment of subsidiaries abroad. 1973 EMB Pumpen AG, founded in Birsfelden in 1948, was taken over. This has been based in Rheinfelden since 1975 . The approximately 30 employees working there generate annual sales of around 45 million francs. Further acquisitions of French pump manufacturers followed in 1984 with Salmson and in 1988 with Drouard. Today this is Wilo Intec, based in Aubigny-sur-Nère .

The establishment of the Korean subsidiary Wilo-LG Pumps Ltd. followed in 2000. In 2003, with the takeover of the EMU Group from Hof, the product range was expanded to include underwater pumps. The listed companies Mather & Platt Pumps Ltd. and Mather & Platt Fire Systems Ltd. Based in Pune , India , the British Circulating Pumps Ltd. were founded in 2005 and 2006. Taken from Kings Lynn , Norfolk .

In 2008 the legal form was changed from Wilo AG to Wilo SE.

Today the Wilo Group has agencies in more than 70 countries and employs around 7,500 people worldwide, including 2,633 in Germany, spread across the Oschersleben , Hof, Minden and Dortmund locations . It has more than 60 subsidiaries.
