occupation

Prognosis Murder is the 59th episode in the Wilsberg television series .

The film is based on the Wilsberg character by Jürgen Kehrer . It was first broadcast on March 3, 2018 on ZDF . Thomas Kronthaler directed the film and Eckehard Ziedrich wrote the screenplay .

action

Tax investigator Matthias Lehnhoff is shot in front of the restaurant at the end of his birthday party. Ekki and Wilsberg hear the shot and find Lehnhoff's wife Hanna next to the corpse, a pistol in hand. Hanna was Ekki's childhood sweetheart, and he urges Wilsberg to rid her of the urgent suspicion.

Meanwhile, Overbeck receives Russian spy software from a friend, which makes it possible to create detailed online profiles of people and to predict crimes beyond any data protection. He tries to make himself popular with his superiors, but when a second murder was actually correctly predicted by the software, Overbeck is urged to uninstall the software again to avoid a scandal. However, the deinstallation proves to be password-protected, while the software gradually hijacks the entire IT system of the police from Overbeck's service computer. Only at the very end does Wilsberg succeed in uninstalling by accidentally pressing a button.

The investigations uncover a network of social fraud: a support association for migrants has skimmed off high levels of government support for non-existent people and has carried out fraudulent transactions. The two murder victims were associated with this association.

Ekki gradually falls in love with Hanna again and comforts her, but shortly before there is intimate contact, he discovers by chance that she actually committed the two murders. When confronted with this, she lunges at him with a knife, but Wilsberg and the police arrive in time to arrest her.

Trivia

The Running Gag Bielefeld appears in a headline of a newspaper that Wilsberg finds in Lehnhoff's office, and again shortly before the end, when Overbeck said goodbye to Wilsberg with a surprising warmth: he has just resigned via email and is taking a job in Bielefeld. Due to the IT malfunction that morning, however, no e-mails were sent, so he stays in Münster.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff criticized for the Frankfurter Rundschau and came to the judgment: “One can certainly argue about whether it is a quality feature if the plot of a film can be reproduced in two concise sentences; such a thing should primarily please the marketing department. On the other hand, of course, a story is not automatically good just because it is so complicated and tricky that it would get out of hand to retell. However, if this complexity means that even halfway through a film it is completely open what the plot is all about, then that is definitely a quality element, especially in a series contribution. "

The Berliner Zeitung wrote: Prognose Mord “is a crime comedy whose charm and dialogues connect to earlier episodes. Eckehard Ziedrich (book) and Thomas Kronthaler (director) combine tension and wit in a successful balance. There is even tension in the finale. The team around Wilsberg, Ekki and lawyer Alexandra Holtkamp (Ina Paule Klink) is investigating the housing mafia in Münster and has to digest several surprising turns in the murder case. "

Ulrich Feld from the Frankfurter Neue Presse said: “Overall, despite Ekki's tragic love, the lengthy story cannot arouse enthusiasm this time. Especially since the solution does not turn out to be credible: The viewer has to swallow first of all someone who works for the LKA so that at the same time carries out a gigantic social fraud without the authorities noticing anything. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the best rating (thumbs up) and said: "The story lurches a bit, but entertains and becomes almost exciting at the end."
