occupation

Morderney is the 58th episode in the Wilsberg television series . The film is based on the Wilsberg character by Jürgen Kehrer . It was first broadcast on January 6, 2018 on ZDF . Directed by Dominic Müller , the script was written by Stefan Rogall .

In this 58th Wilsberg episode there is a crossover with the ZDF series Friesland . Insa Scherzinger ( Theresa Underberg ) and Jan Brockhorst ( Felix Vörtler ) appear here as investigators because the case is on Norderney - that is, on East Frisian " sovereign territory " - and private detective Georg Wilsberg actually only wants to go there on vacation.

action

For the first time, Wilsberg goes on vacation with Anna. Merle is also there, something neither Wilsberg nor Merle are enthusiastic about. When they move into their holiday home in Norderney , which belongs to Merle's father and does not make a particularly trustworthy impression, they find the door broken and after a short search discover a man in the house who is in danger of drowning in the toilet bowl with tape. He introduces himself as Gregor Schott, who was brought into this situation by "his boys" because of a losing bet. The same evening they meet him again as a waiter in a restaurant, but when he is about to take care of the three vacationers' orders, another guest calls him over very brusquely. Merle and Wilsberg immediately speculate about this guest and his much younger wife. Wilsberg later learned from the restaurant owner, Wencke Harms, that the two of them were the freight operator Hauke Tiedemann and his wife Saskia, who was Miss Norderney a few years ago . Harms himself could not particularly suffer Tiedemann because he was trying to buy up the island bit by bit, regardless of the existing nature conservation.

The next day Gregor Schott is found dead on the beach. Merle reports to the local police officer, Grit Vierboom, of her observations in the restaurant the evening before. Nevertheless, Vierboom assumes it is self- inflicted and sees no reason for further action until Inspector Brockhorst arrives from Leer and, to his surprise, meets the pharmacist Insa Scherzinger, who works as a forensic scientist as a hobby and is a friend of the local police officer. Brockhorst immediately feels drawn to Anna, which Wilsberg does not exactly please. Merle knows that her aunt wants to have some rest on vacation, so she calls Overbeck, who is also interfering in the investigation. While there is still a conflict of competence between the officers, Wilsberg finds a hot lead: The victim has been proven to have an affair with Saskia Tiedemann. Overbeck and Insa Scherzinger also find clues that burden Hauke Tiedemann: there are traces of blood on his carpet that, according to Scherzinger's analysis, undoubtedly come from Gregor Schott. Wilsberg and Overbeck secretly break into Tiedemann's storage rooms, where they find the motorcycle of the construction company Boris Johannsen. Johannsen himself has disappeared, Wilsberg suspects a murder here too. Together with Overbeck, Vierboom and Scherzinger, he finds Johannsen's body under a fresh hill of sand on the beach.

In the end it turns out that Tiedemann killed Johannsen because he wanted to withdraw from a planned building project. He had allowed Johannsen to rape his wife in order to simultaneously punish her for her affair with Schott and to win Johannsen back for the project. Gregor Schott tried to prevent this act, where he was killed in a duel by Johannsen.

While Overbeck is driving back to Münster with Merle, Anna and Georg are enjoying their second week of vacation alone on Norderney.

Trivia

The running gag "Bielefeld" appears in the 13th minute when Grit Vierboom asks Wilsberg where he comes from, and when he answers that he comes from the most beautiful city in Westphalia, he taps Bielefeld.

Ekki and Alex are not directly involved in this case, but only look after Wilsberg's apartment and business during his absence.

Anna mentions at the beginning that Merle has just graduated from high school - the first more precise indication of Merle's age.

The characters Jan Brockhorst and Insa Scherzinger are guests from the TV series Friesland .

Ingo Hannemann, managing director of Hamburger Wasserwerke, has a cameo (to be seen from 01:18:29).

At the end of the episode, the title Island In The Sun is played by Weezer .

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv said of this episode: “You can argue about the originality of the title, and the crime story is not exactly ingenious, but that doesn't matter.” This crossover of the crime series Wilsberg and Friesland “takes care many cheerful moments, especially since “Brocki” takes great pleasure in the colleague and Overbeck, who has traveled afterwards, immediately falls in love with the dashing Insa. But again Janina Fautz has the best dialogues as a young detective. "

For the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung , Harald Keller wrote: “With this so-called crossover, a frequent exercise in the USA, author Stefan Rogall has created a real program pearl. The characters in both rows are in top form, the original, allusive dialogues sparkle and sparkle with humor. Overbeck has a crush, Wilsberg has reason to be jealous - a real pleasure. "

Sabine Fischer from the Berliner Morgenpost wrote : "Director Dominic Müller and author Stefan Rogall [play] the humorous who-with-whom cleverly and discuss more serious topics behind the nice winking gesture." "Conclusion: As usual, it's less about Murder, but about entanglements and relationship boxes - this time particularly successful. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave it a medium rating (thumbs straight) and found that “the change of location does the nice row as well as the guests from the 'Friesland' crime novels. But fresh wind does not replace good jokes, and they often seem exhausted and cramped. The 'case' is chattered erratically and only good at the end, plus there is plenty of turmoil in relationships. "

The Frankfurter Neue Presse criticized: "If a total of seven people would like to find out [the] murderer, that is not a very good prerequisite for a stringent crime thriller." remains zero because it shows almost no presence in the action. In the end, the actors who act with obvious pleasure result in a really decent comedy. But as a thriller, 'Morderney' is not one of the highlights in the universe of 'Wilsberg' and 'Friesland'. "
