Wilson Allen Wallis

Wilson Allen Wallis (born November 5, 1912 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † October 12, 1998 in Rochester , New York ) was an American economist and statistician . He attended the University of Minnesota and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1932 . He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity .

Wallis was from 1962 to 1970 as the successor to Cornelis de Kiewiet President of the University of Rochester . He has served as economic advisor to Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower , Richard Nixon , Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan . In 1964 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . Between 1982 and 1989 he held the post of Secretary of State for Economic and Agricultural Affairs ( Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs from) and had it the third highest position in the United States Department of State held.
