Wimpassing is a village and a locality in the southern part of the municipality Lengau in the Braunau district in Upper Austria with 93 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The name is likely to be derived from "windy" loggers who settled there to clear the surrounding forests.
Village fountain
The old, dug “village well” is remarkable: until the 1960s, drinking water was drawn using buckets and winches. It is still in operation (electric pump).
Wooden houses
Two of the approx. 300 year old wooden farmhouses have been preserved. One of the stables is used to breed Shagy Arabs, and one of the first photovoltaic systems in the Lengau community is on the roof of the other .
