The Düren-Echtz wind farm is located in the north-western urban area of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia south of the federal motorway 4 and consists of six wind turbines .

location

The wind farm is located in the districts Auf dem Gücken and Im Tal , on the edge of the urban area of Düren in the Echtz district , bordering the Langerwehe community and the Luchem district . The Inden open- cast lignite mine with its expansion area is located directly to the north, opposite the federal motorway 4. To the north of the wind farm, an overhead line for high voltage runs from the Weisweiler power station to the Oberzier substation .

history

Plans for the wind farm have been in existence since the beginning of 2012. With a development plan issued in September 2012, the city of Düren designated the area west of Echtz as a wind power concentration zone.

Construction work for the wind farm began in 2013. Before the start of the earthworks, the area was archaeologically examined, especially since the Neolithic settlement near Arnoldsweiler was discovered in the immediate vicinity during the expansion of the BAB 4 in 2009/10 . Some Neolithic artifacts were also found during the excavations in Echtz .

Construction of the six plants began in summer 2013. Three of the systems were built by juwi , the other three by Stadtwerke Aachen AG (STAWAG). On November 19, 2013, an assembly crane overturned. The systems were completed by December, so that the wind farm could go into regular operation in March 2014. The turbines are the ENERCON E-101 model from the German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon . Each turbine has a nominal output of 3.05 MW with a hub height of 135 m and a rotor diameter of 101 m. The wind farm is operated by Windpark Düren-Echtz GmbH & Co. KG .

In 2019, a further Nordex N131 / 3600 wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 131 m and a total output of 3.6 MW was built immediately to the south-west of the wind farm in the area of the municipality of Langerwehe . The client is the REA group of companies from Düren, the operator is Windenergie Langerwehe 1 GmbH & Co. KG .
