Winfried Kreutzer (born March 23, 1940 in Oberaltstadt near Trautenau , Sudetenland ) is a German Romance philologist and literary historian.

After the Second World War , Kreutzer's family fled Czechoslovakia to Bavaria on September 24, 1945 . From 1960 to 1967 he studied Romance languages , English and philosophy at the University of Erlangen . After the state examination (1967), doctorate (1970) and habilitation (1977), he worked initially as a research assistant and from 1980 as a professor at the Institute for Romance Philology at the University of Würzburg .

Kreutzer's main focus of work and research was Spanish and Portuguese literature of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

In addition to his work at the university, Kreutzer was also President of the German-Iberian Society in Würzburg from 1991 to 2009, of which he is still an honorary member. Kreutzer also works for the Sudeten German Trautenau home district, which wants to expand the town twinning between Trautenau and Würzburg.

At the university he was apparently active at least until the end of 2011, now he's retired .
