Vitaly Kuchinowitsch Darasselia ( Georgian დარასელია ვიტალი ; Russian Виталий Кухинович Дараселия * 9. October 1957 in Ochamchira , Abkhazian ASSR , Georgian SSR ; † 13. December 1982 in Zestaponi , Georgian SSR) was a Soviet football player Georgian - Abkhazian origin.
life and career
Vitali Darasselia's birthplace is in Abkhazia , Darasselia's mother was of Abkhaz origin, his father Mingrelier (a Georgian ethnic group).
After starting with Amirani Otschamtschira in his hometown, Darasselia joined the big club Dinamo Tiflis in 1975 . With his new club, he became the Soviet champion in 1978 and also the Soviet cup winner in 1976 and 1979 . In the 1980/81 season he won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Dinamo Tbilisi . In the final against FC Carl Zeiss Jena , Darasselia scored the decisive goal to make it 2-1.
Between 1979 and 1982 Darasselia played 22 games for the Soviet national team and scored three goals. In 1982 he took part in the World Cup in Spain .
Darasselia died in December 1982 at the age of 25 in a car accident at Sestaponi . His son Vitali junior (* 1978) later also embarked on a career as a football player and made some appearances in the Georgian national team .
