Vitaly Skomarowskyj ( Ukrainian Віталій Скомаровський ; born December 30, 1963 in Berdychiv , Ukraine) is a Ukrainian clergyman and bishop of Lutsk .

Life

Vitaly Skomarowskyj studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Riga, Latvia. He was ordained a priest on May 27, 1990 . He was vicar in Berdychiv and pastor in Sumy in northeast Ukraine. From 1995 to 2000 he was chancellor of the diocesan curia in the Diocese of Zhytomyr , from 1998 in the Diocese of Kiev-Zhytomyr and at the same time pastor in the Transfiguration Cathedral of Zhytomyr. From 2000 to 2003 he was Vice Rector of the Diocesan Seminary.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on April 7, 2003 auxiliary bishop in Kiev-Zhytomyr and titular bishop of Bencenna . The Archbishop of Lemberg , Marian Cardinal Jaworski , donated him episcopal ordination on June 7th of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Nikola Eterović , Apostolic Nuncio in Ukraine , and Jan Purwiński , Bishop of Kiev-Zhytomyr. As a motto he chose Spes Nostra .

On April 12, 2014, he was appointed Bishop of Lutsk by Pope Francis . The inauguration took place on May 17 of the same year.
