Marian Franciszek Cardinal Jaworski ( Ukrainian Мар'ян Францішек Яворський ; born August 21, 1926 in Lemberg , Poland ) is emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lemberg .

Life

Marian Jaworski studied in Lviv and Krakow trays Catholic theology and philosophy , and was founded in 1950 for the priests consecrated. He then worked as a parish chaplain for two years before he obtained a doctorate in theology as well as in philosophy and the history of philosophy in the course of further studies . From 1970 to 1984 he was the secretary of the Science Council of the Polish Bishops' Conference, from 1976 to 1981 he worked first as dean and from 1981 as rector at the Pontifical Theological Academy in Cracow.

Marian Jaworski was appointed Titular Bishop of Lambaesis and Apostolic Administrator for the territories of the Lviv diocese in Poland by Pope John Paul II on May 21, 1984 . He was ordained bishop on June 23, 1984 by the then Archbishop of Krakow , Cardinal Franciszek Macharski ; Co- consecrators were Henryk Roman Gulbinowicz , then Archbishop of Wroclaw and later Cardinal , and Jerzy Karol Ablewicz , then Bishop of Tarnów .

1985 awarded him the University of Bonn , the honorary doctorate . In 1991, Marian Jaworski received the appointment of Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lemberg by Pope John Paul II. In 1998 he was " in pectore created" a cardinal and on 21 February 2001 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Sisto Vecchio in the College of Cardinals received.
