Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki (pronounced: Mokschizki ) (born March 29, 1961 in Majdan Łukawiecki , Powiat Lubaczowski , Poland ) is the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lemberg .

After graduating from high school, Mieczyslaw Mokrzycki studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Catholic University of Lublin . On September 17, 1987, he received the sacrament of ordination through Marian Jaworski . In 1996 he was at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome for a doctor of theology doctorate .

From 1996 to 2005 he was secretary to Pope John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI. After taking office, he took over as the second secretary alongside Georg Gänswein .

On July 16, 2007 he was appointed coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lviv. The episcopal ordination received his Benedict XVI. on September 29 of the same year in St. Peter's Basilica . Co - consecrators were Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone SDB and Cardinal Marian Jaworski . His successor as the Pope's private secretary was Alfred Xuereb .

On October 21, 2008 he succeeded Cardinal Jaworski as Archbishop of Lemberg when he retired due to old age. The inauguration took place on November 21, 2008.
