Witold Baran
Witold Baran ( Witold Stanisław Baran; born July 29, 1939 in Chmielów , Bodzechów ) is a former Polish medium and long-distance runner .
He won silver over 1500 m at the World Festival of Youth and Students in 1959. In 1962, a victory at the World Festival of Youth and Students was followed by a silver medal at the European Athletics Championships in Belgrade .
In 1964 he won the Emsley Carr Mile and was sixth at the Olympic Games in Tokyo over 1500 m.
At the European Athletics Cup in 1965 he was second behind Harald Norpoth over 5000 m .
Five times he was Polish champion over 1500 m (1962-1964, 1966, 1967) and once each over 800 m (1961) and 5000 m (1968).
