Witold Kaetanowitsch Bjalynizki-Birulja ( Belarusian Вітольд Каэтанавіч Бялыніцкі-Біруля , Russian Витольд Каэтанович Бялыницкий-Бируля * 12. February 1872 in Krynki , † 18 June 1957 in Moscow ) was a Belarusian painter.

Life

Bjalynizki-Birulja completed an apprenticeship at the Kiev drawing school with Mykola Muraschko from 1885 to 1889 and then studied from 1889 to 1897 at the Moscow Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture with Sergei Alexejewitsch Korowin , Vasili Dmitrijewitsch Polenow and Illarion Michailowitsch Prjanischnikow . From 1904 he was a member of the Peredwischniki artist group . He belonged to the Association of Russian Artists, and from 1922 also to the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia .

  • In 1982 a Bjalynizki Birulja Museum was opened in Mahiljou , and in 1986 in Bjalyniči
  • In 1997, the Belarusian Post issued a stamp on the 40th anniversary of Byalynitsky-Birulja’s death. In 1998 another stamp was issued with Byalynitsky-Birulja's most famous painting “Winter Dream”.
