Witold von Skarzynski

Witold von Skarżyński (born October 17, 1850 in Splawie , † September 1, 1910 in Berlin ) was a manor owner and politician of the Polish minority in Prussia. He also published a work on Adam Smith and other writings.

Life

He attended high schools in Lissa and Poznan . He then studied in Bonn , Paris , Berlin and Krakow . He also attended the agricultural academy in Proskau . He received his doctorate in 1873 as Dr. phil. He wrote a thesis on Adam Smith as a habilitation thesis. "Adam Smith as a moral philosopher and creator of the national economy." When this was not accepted, he devoted himself to the management of his estates. In 1881 he was elected to the Reichstag as a member of the constituency Bromberg 5 (Gnesen) . He was a member of parliament until 1884. From 1903 until his death in 1910 he represented the constituency of Posen 4 (Bug - costs) in the Reichstag.

He was also active in various committees. He was a member of the Provincial Committee of the Poznan Province , he was a member of a district committee and the board of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Poznan Province. He was on the board of directors of the landscape bank, the provincial relief fund and the Ziemski bank. He was also a board member of the Polish Central Agricultural Association, the Polish Scientific Association and other organizations.

He was also active as an author. Between 1876 and 1898 alone he wrote seven writings in Polish and five in German.

From 1903 he belonged again to the Reichstag and from 1904 to 1908 also to the Prussian House of Representatives as a member of the Polish parliamentary group .
