Wittichbaude
The Wittichbaude (Czech Horská chata Vitiška ) is a privately run mountain hut in the eastern Ore Mountains . It belongs to the municipality of Mikulov in the Ústecký kraj (Aussiger Region) of the Czech Republic and is located in the Elbe / Labe Euroregion .
Geographical location
The Wittichbaude is located together with the smaller cottage Mikuláška in an exposed position on the saddle between the Pramenáč ( Bornhauberg , 909 m nm) and the Klínovčík ( wedge Berg , 836 m nm) on the edge at a height of around 810 m nm directly on Osterzgebirgskamm near the Location of the historic Red Cross. In the past, the ridge path ran directly past the cottage , today it is a connecting road from Cínovec (Bohemian Zinnwald) to Nové Město (New Town), which is used as the Ore Mountains main road (Krusnohorska Magistrala R23), which is especially used by cyclists.
Within sight of the Wittichbaude is the summit of Bouřňák ( Stürmer , 869 m nm), on the summit of which there is also a mountain hut.
From the Wittichbaude there is a wide view of the Bohemian Basin to the Milleschauer and Bílina (Bilin) when the visibility is good .
history
The Wittichbaude was built on a mountain pasture immediately after the First World War and quickly developed into a popular excursion destination with refreshment stops and overnight stays in summer and winter, as several hiking trails intersected with the aforementioned Kammweg and from here there were good excursion possibilities . From October 1938 to May 1945 the Wittichbaude belonged to the Reichsgau Sudetenland and was administered from Niklasberg.
Today the restaurant offers 45 seats and capacity for 28 overnight guests.
In winter there are six ski lifts and ski trails in the immediate vicinity of the chalet. In summer there is also the possibility of paragliding near the chalet .
The Wittichbaude is the base of the project Gipfel-Stürmer of the Green League Osterzgebirge eV and FSP eV This project links the PC nature game "Ulli Uhu" with child-friendly experiences in nature, the environment and agriculture of the eastern Ore Mountains across the border between Germany and the Czech Republic.
The Wittichbaude is not to be confused with the Wittighaus in the Czech part of the Jizera Mountains .
