Vyacheslav Alexandrovich Barkov ( Russian Вячеслав Александрович Барков ; at the FIS according to an English transcription Viacheslav Barkov ; born February 28, 1992 in Saint Petersburg ) is a Russian Nordic combined skier .

Career

Between 2010 and 2012 he competed in all three Nordic Junior World Ski Championships . He achieved his best individual result and his best result with the team at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2012 in the Turkish city of Erzurum . After jumping from the normal hill, he took 17th place and improved to eighth place in cross-country skiing over the 10 kilometers. With his teammates Samir Mastijew , Alexey Gubin and Evgeny Klimow , he finished fifth in the team competition.

On July 21, 2012 he made his debut at the Grand Prix in Sochi for the Russian team in the Nordic Combined Grand Prix . In his first outing he finished 24th after jumping and finished the competition in 24th place after the inline skating run. In the overall Grand Prix he finished 55th with 12 points.

At the World Cup in Tchaikovsky , he was allowed to start for Russia in the Nordic Combined World Cup for the first time on January 4, 2014 . In his first appearance in the World Cup, he finished 43rd and thus missed his first World Cup points.

He collected his first World Cup points at the World Cup in Sapporo on February 10, 2017. After jumping from the Ōkurayama hill , he was in 24th place and was able to improve to 23rd place in cross-country skiing. A day later he achieved his best result in the Nordic Combined World Cup with 17th place. After taking part in the Winter Universiade in 2013 and 2015 , he also took part in the Winter Universiade 2017 in the Kazakh city of Almaty and was able to become student world champion in the individual competition ahead of the Poles Adam Cieślar and Paweł Słowiok .

He also took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2017 and took 24th place on the normal hill and 32nd place on the large hill in the individual competition. Together with Samir Mastijew , he finished 13th in the team sprint on the large hill and they had to end the cross-country skiing early, which they had to lap. In the team competition on the normal hill, he took tenth place together with Samir Mastijew, Ernest Jachin and Timofei Borissow . At the end of the World Cup season he finished 52nd in the overall World Cup with a total of 22 points.
