Adam Cieślar (born December 18, 1992 in Cieszyn ) is a former Polish Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Cieślar played his first World Cup on March 14, 2009 in Vikersund . In the penultimate competition in the 2008/09 season , he finished 46th. In the 2012/13 season he took part in a Universiade for the first time . At the Universiade in Predazzo he won the gold medal in the Gundersen competition. He also won the team competition together with Szczepan Kupczak and Paweł Słowiok . In the mass start, he finished second behind Aguri Shimizu . This made him the best Nordic combined athlete at the 2013 Winter Universiade .

Four years after his first start in the Nordic Combined World Cup , he was able to collect his first World Cup points in the 2013/14 season . On November 30, 2013, he finished the Gundersen competition on the large hill in Kuusamo in 22nd place and got 9 World Cup points. He was nominated for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi by the Polski Komitet Olimpijski . He finished the two individual competitions on 39th (normal hill) and 37th (large hill). With a total of 24 World Cup points, he and Todd Lodwick took 55th place overall.

At the Winter Universiade 2015 in Štrbské Pleso , Cieślar defended his title in the Gundersen competition. In the mass start competition, he won ahead of the German David Welde and his compatriot Mateusz Wantulok. In the team competition, Poland, fourth behind the teams from Germany, Japan and Russia, missed a medal. With his two gold medals he was again the best Nordic combined athlete at the Universiade. He also took part in the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty and this time defended his title in the mass start competition, while in the Gundersen competition he had to be content with second place behind Vyacheslav Barkov from Russia. In the team competition he won together with Wojciech Marusarz and Paweł Słowiok before Russia and Japan. With two gold and one silver medal, he was again the best Nordic combined athlete at the Universiade.

After taking part in the Universiade, he was nominated by the Polski Związek Narciarski for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lathi.

After the 2019/20 season, Cieślar announced the end of his career.
