David Welde (born April 15, 1994 ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete .
Career
In 2011 David Welde was third at the German Junior Championships and winner at the Olympic Festival of European Youth (EYOWF) in Liberec .
At the Junior World Championships in January 2013 in Liberec , he won the gold medal with the German team and was second behind Manuel Faißt over the 10 km distance. A year later, he won three medals at the 2014 Junior World Championships in Val di Fiemme : silver and bronze in the individual competitions and silver with the team.
On December 1, 2012, he completed his first World Cup competition in Kuusamo , which he finished in 24th place. In total, he was used in five competitions this season and finished 45th in the overall standings. In the winter of 2013/14 he started in eight World Cup races, but only placed two points in the top 30.
At the Winter Universiade 2015 in Štrbské Pleso , Welde won the silver medal in both individual competitions. Together with Tobias Simon and Johannes Wasel , he won gold in the team. After a few weaker years, he finished second in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup for the 2016/17 season .
Welde lives in Wilsdruff and started for SC Sohland . After graduating from high school in Klingenthal in 2014, he switched to the Bundeswehr sports promotion group .
