Vyacheslav Michailowitsch Andrejew ( Russian Вячеслав Михайлович Андреев ; born September 18, 1941 in Astrakhan ) is a Soviet and Russian physicist and university professor .

Life

Andreev studied, became an aspirant , candidate, and finally doctor of technical sciences . He became an employee of the Joffe Physico-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) and in 1981 head of the photovoltaic laboratory .

Andreev's work on the technology and physics of semiconductor components with heterojunctions pioneered the use of renewable energies . He developed highly efficient photoelectric solar radiation converters for the use of solar energy on the ground and in space . Further development led to highly efficient solar power plants with cheaper electricity generation . In 1986 its development found application in the Mir space station . He is the author of more than 425 scientific publications. In 2016 he was elected a corresponding member of the RAN. He is Chairman of the Photovoltaics Section of the RAN Scientific Council on Direct Energy Conversion Problems.

In addition to his research activities, Andrejew is a professor at the Chair of Optoelectronics at the St. Petersburg State University of Electrical Engineering . 3 doctoral and 31 candidate dissertations were defended under his leadership .
