Vyacheslav Sems (born May 2, 1998 ) is a Kazakh hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter hurdles , but occasionally also competes in the sprint .

Athletic career

Vyacheslav Sems gained his first experience in international championships at the 2015 Asian Youth Championships in Bangkok , where he finished fifth in the hurdles sprint in 14.58 s. The following year he reached seventh place at the Junior Asian Championships in Ho Chi Minh City in 14.34 s and also qualified for the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where he was eliminated with 14.48 s in the first round. In 2017 he was eliminated from the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 14.42 s in the preliminary round and was disqualified in the 100-meter run . He also finished eighth in the Kazakh 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 11.49 minutes. He then took part in the Summer Universiade in Taipei for the first time and was eliminated there over 100 meters with 10.81 s in the first round and in the hurdles to the semi-finals, in which he was eliminated with 14.45 s. In 2018 he finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran in 7.96 s and in the summer he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he failed in the hurdles with 14.64 s in the run and also reached the 4th place -time-100-meter-relay with 40.04 s not until the final.

In 2019 he was eliminated from the Asian Championships in Doha with 14.07 s in the first round. He then failed at the Student World Games in Naples with 14.47 s in the preliminary round and took eighth place with the 4 x 400 meter relay in a new national record time of 3: 07.66 min.

In 2017, Sems became Kazakh champion in the 110-meter hurdles and in 2018 and 2019 indoor champion over 60 m hurdles. In 2018 and 2019 he also won the 4 x 100 meter relay outdoors and in 2018 indoors in the 4 x 200 meter relay race.
