Vladimir Borisovich Amokov
Vladimir Borisovich Amokow ( Russian Владимир Борисович Амоков ; * 1944 in Nukuty , Buryat Republic ) is a Russian artist.
Amokov attended medical school and then studied at a military medical institute in Gorky .
In 1968 he started with sculptural work in wood; In 1970 his first exhibition took place in Gorki. Further exhibitions in Tbilisi , Yerevan , Donetsk , Rostov-on-Don and Ulan-Ude followed; In the GDR , the works of the doctor, who was stationed in Beelitz-Heilstätten , Jüterbog and Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1976 to 1994 , were shown in Wünsdorf , Annaberg , Berlin , Dresden and Potsdam . In addition to sculptures and sculptures, Amokow also created graphic and literary works. Amokov has lived near Moscow since his return to Russia .
In 1977 he was a laureate of the All Union Festival of National Artistic Creation of the USSR. In 1978 he was awarded the title of “Master of the Arts” from the BDKSM Central Committee and in 1981 a DEFA documentary was filmed about him under the title “I don't sell, I give away” .
His concrete sculpture of a medical officer in the entrance area of the former men's sanatorium of the Beelitz Heilstätten and the bas-relief "Three Friends" carved in 1979 in the Brück kindergarten are still publicly accessible in Germany . A concrete relief with the title "Mother and Child", which is also located on the grounds of the sanatorium, is also attributed to Amokow, but this allocation is apparently not reliable.
