Vladimir Milchev Brejchev ( Bulgarian Владимир Милчов Брейчев ; born December 16, 1958 in Samokow ) is a former Bulgarian ski jumper .

Career

Brejchev started annually from 1977 in the Four Hills Tournament . On December 30, 1979, he also made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup . In his first World Cup competition outside of the tour, he was able to win his first World Cup points in Harrachov on January 14, 1984 with 13th place.

At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , Brejchev jumped from the normal hill to 19th place and from the large hill to 42nd place.

After the games Brejchev was again without good placements and clearly missed the points in every competition. He was also unsuccessful at the 1985 World Championships in Seefeld in Tirol and in Oberstdorf in 1987 .

As part of the Four Hills Tournament in 1987/88 he was able to win two World Cup points again in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary he was again part of the Bulgarian squad and jumped from the normal hill to 53rd and from the large hill to 46th place. It then took until January 22nd, 1989, until he was able to jump to a point in Oberhof again. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he reached 50th place on the normal hill and 32nd place on the large hill. At the beginning of the World Cup season 1989/90 he was able to achieve his best result so far with an 8th place in Thunder Bay . In the following competitions he was able to achieve constant performance and jumped into the points several times. At the end of the season he achieved the best result of his career in Planica and jumped to 7th place on the large hill. He finished the season in 34th place in the overall World Cup standings.

In the following two seasons he could not build on the successes of the 1989/90 season. Brejchev ended his active ski jumping career at the age of 33 with the start at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . He jumped from the large hill to 50th and from the normal hill to 46th place.

Brejchev is the only Bulgarian ski jumper who competed three times in the Winter Olympics.
