Volodymyr Ipolytowytsch Lypskyj ( Ukrainian Володимир Іполитович Липський , Russian Владимир Ипполитович Липский / Vladimir Ippolitowitsch Lipski also Hippolitowitsch Lipskij * February 27 . Jul / 11. March  1863 greg. In Samostrily , volhynian governorate , Russian Empire ; † 24. February 1937 in Odessa , Ukrainian SSR ) was a russian- Ukrainian , Soviet botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Lipsky ".

Volodymyr Lypskyj studied in Kiev and worked after graduating in 1886 another seven years at the city's University ; from 1894 to 1917 he worked at the Botanical Garden in Saint Petersburg . From 1919 he was a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences . In Odessa he was in charge of the botanical garden there from 1928 to 1937.

Lypskyj mainly dealt with higher plants of the Caucasus , Central Asia and the Ukraine. The plant genus Lipskyella is named after him.
