Wladimir Pawlowitsch Perlin ( Russian Владимир Павлович Перлин , scientific transliteration Vladimir Pavlovič Perlin ; born March 1, 1942 in Frunze , KiSSR ) is a Belarusian- Soviet cellist , conductor and educator .

Life

Vladimir Perlin was born in Frunze in 1942 and moved with his family to Minsk in 1949 after the Second World War . He inherited his interest in the cello from his grandfather, who was a student of Verzhbilovich and one of the founders of all music schools and academies in Minsk and who was murdered in the Minsk ghetto in 1941 .

In 1965 Perlin completed his studies at the State University of Music with Professor Alexander Stogorsky , the brother of the world-famous cellist Gregor Piatigorsky . In the same year that he graduated, he won the national competition and played for years as the concertmaster of the Radio and TV Orchestra of Belarus.

Since 1971 he has been educating young musicians in the high school college and since 1984 has also been teaching as a professor of cello at the State University of Music in Belarus. He trained many of today's internationally famous cellists as well as winners of prestigious international competitions. His master classes take place in Belgium , the Netherlands , Germany , France , USA and Russia . In 2018 he was invited to the “Musica Mundi School” to teach there as a cello teacher in Waterloo .

For his significant contribution to music education, Vladimir Perlin was appointed "Officier" de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques de la République Française. He was the first Belarusian to receive this title.

In addition to his teaching activities, he has been putting together a string orchestra every year since 1988 from the older, 13 to 18 year old students. The orchestra impresses with its extraordinary technical and musical performance, which it has demonstrated in many concerts in Europe and as a regular guest at international festivals.
